The Shining Collection
Drax grew up in the highlands with his orc father, Crogunn, lieutenant to the tribe chief Urrog Garim, in a semi-nomadic orc tribe. Drax learned to fight from his father and went on several raids when he was young and proved himself a strong fighter. Like his father, he found senseless killing to be dishonorable, which was not a view shared by many, including the tribe chief Urrog. Because of his half-orc son, Crogunn was welcoming of other half-orcs to the tribe and was well liked by many. He was also disliked by many more orcs who felt half breeds were inferior and not of true blood, despite many of them proving to be more than capable. The tribe was proficient in foraging and hunting, but gained most of their resources from raiding as they travelled. Over time Crogunn and Urrog began to disagree on the inclusion of half-orcs in the tribe, the amount of raiding on seemingly peaceful towns, and other issues. This began to cause unrest in the tribe, causing many member to take sides of Crogunn or Urrog. Most half-orcs and a few orcs sided with Crogunn but was outnumbered by Urrog and his followers. This led to a skirmish between the two factions. Drax stood alongside his father and his allies. They fought fiercely and if they were no so grealy outnumbered, may have won. They were overrun and eventually killed or capture. Drax watched as his father was murdered by Urrog. The few remaining prisoners were either killed for resisting, or exhiled. Drax was exhiled. With nothing and no one left, Drax began to travel several weeks towards lands he had never seen before. Scavenging, foraging, and hunting to survive. When entering a town he was often greeted with sour, sometimes fearful looks and inhospitallity of humans. Drax continued to wander until he could find a place he would be welcomed.
